In my previous post, I gave you the recipe for fall off the bone turkey. In this post, I’m going to give you the recipe to the perfect side dish for any type of poultry…stuffing, or in this case it would appropriately be called dressing.
What you need:
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 4 stalks of celery, chopped
- 12 oz. fresh, sliced mushrooms, chopped
- 1 cup of fresh parsley chopped
- 1 cup of butter
- 12 cups or so of dried bread crumbs
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Marjoram to taste
- 5 cans chicken broth
How you make it:
- Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.
- Add veggies to skillet and cook to desired tenderness ( I like my celery slightly crunchy) stirring frequently
- Place bread crumbs in an extra large mixing bowl
- Spoon veggies over bread crumbs
- Add seasonings
- Spoon mixture into slow cooker
- Add chicken broth until desired moisture is reached.
- Mix well
- Cook on high for 4 to 6 hours
- Reduce heat to low for 1 to 2 hours
- Serve warm!
This is the best stuffing I’ve made yet and I love it even more because it’s made in the slow cooker! You can make this dressing any time to serve with chicken or any poultry.
